If youre into your dnb and havent heard of shogun audio, youve probably been living under a rock. Theyve been smashing dancefloors up and down the country with their addictive sounds and big names for a time.
A year ago shogun released the Evolution EP, 4 tracks of no-nonsense, timeless beats. Most of which are still in constant rotation through my playlists to this day.
Well, theyve just followed it up with the monster, albeit unimaginatively named; Evolution EP 2.
Choc full of heaviness from the likes of rockwell, icicle, spy & the prototypes, you’d be mad to miss out on this one. The unique sound of each artist is definately present and distinct in their own work. Their unique sounds are at a point where theyre so refined you could point them out without knowing the tracklisting. Its a bit of a double edged sword though as they dont seem to be bringing anything new to the table.
One thing that irks me about this EP though is these tracks have already been rinsed to death. Ive heard all of them in every shogun artists set ive been to in the past several months. But thats dubplate culture for you.
Either way, shoguns latest offering is a big one that only re-inforces their position as my favourite dnb label. These tunes will no doubt be on rotation, killing dancefloors for years to come.
