Ruffhouse – The Foot/Bypass (Ingredients 030)

Ruffhouse are a trio from Bristol who all share a similar ethos to drum & bass so decided to collaborate in the studio to great effect. Nick Callaghan aka Vega, is on of the founders of one of Bristol’s most prolific drum and bass nights, Abstractions. It has been one of those ‘must attended’ nights for Bristol heads over the past two years and they continue to impress bringing the freshest and finest back to Bristol. Kristian Jabs, also known as Pessimist, aged 20 is a Drum & Bass Producer/DJ from Bristol. He has been producing since the age of 15 and has recently become one of the scenes most prolific newcomers of the underground. A distinct style and not conforming to predictable trends has earned Pessimist a respectful reputation in Drum & Bass. Recently included in Kmag’s ‘10 Drum & Bass producers to watch for in 2012’ the future looks bright for Pessimist. Tom Cooper completes the Bristol production trio.

Ruffhouse are Ingredients’ latest signing & the trio are proving already they are ones to watch. Consisting of Vega, who runs the ‘Abstractions’ night in Bristol, Pessimist, who has released two stunning tracks on the label already & Cooper.

With their distinct progressive arrangement, cold atmospherics & techno influenced percussion they’ve hit the ground running with “The Foot” & “Bypass” with both getting support from dBridge Loxy & Doc Scott. Their fresh approach to drum & bass is welcomed onto the label and with a 2nd 12″ already mastered, this is just the start of a promising career.
