Mefjus – Signalz / Mefjus & Kasra – Cypher (Critical Music)

Big things coming from the critical camp once again with Mefjus and Kasra teaming up to bring you some more ridiculous beats.

This still maintains the classic Mefjus flavour, but feels a little different. Hopefully He’s been working on a progression from his breakthrough sound,  which, while awesome, has been heavily rinsed by him and his imitators.

release date: 18/03/13

Ivy Lab – Afterthought / Brat (Ivy Lab)

artworks-000039134057-mk6z6a-large

Ivy Lab have just dropped some previews of their debut single coming on Critical 4th Feb.

Quite a diverse release, side A ft Frank Carter is a sublime roller, not too dissimilar in style to Oblique. Side B comes in with a tougher edge, more traditional to the Critical sound.

All round a great release, definitely worth the time for a listen, maybe even worth the pennies for the wax!

Critical X Compilation (Critical Records)

CRITXLTDS

Up for grabs this christmas are some long awaited VIP’s and remixes coming straight from kasras dub-plate, sex-fest of a record box.

£7.99 will bag you a vinyl with So Real (Mefjus Remix) and Surface VIP aswell as 16 tracks over download! Not bad.

Not all these tracks are new, this is more of a retrospective on some bangers that have been lost in the years of new music and deserve a dust off from the archives for another rinse-out.

Critical are leading the way when it comes to keeping vinyl alive, I think Kasra understands that its turning into more of a collectors thing. I dont know many people that go out of their way to bag £30 of records each week, its much easier and cheaper to stock up on digital nowadays.

You can only bag this bundle from Surus: http://www.surus.co.uk/Critical-Music/Surface-VIP-So-Real-(Mefjus-Remix)-20167.aspx

from the 7th Dec.

The vinyl will be available from other outlets shortly after.

Enei – Machines LP

The long awaited debut LP from Enei has been announced! I needn’t really say much more aside from its sounding massive!

So go listen!

Bangin’ I’m sure you’ll agree, the vinyl looks set to have some wicked tracks on it too. If youre a bit of a fanatic like myself, the bundle deal is a must buy.

Loads of cool bits come with this, including an exclusive 10″ plus artwork. Dont sleep on it, theyre gonna go like hotcakes!

Organiser (Foreign Concept Remix) / One Chance (Emperor Remix) Spectrasoul / Enei – CRIT65

Released today (Friday 24th Aug) which is a little odd seeing as most fresh releases drop on a monday, but far be it from me to complain!

Friction has had these on dubs for a while and they have been rinsed quite thoroughly by the Critical crew.

Regardless, you’d be a fool not to want these tracks in the record bag.

I suspect theyre a limited run so dont rest on your laurels, bag that shit!

Critical: Sequence Two Announced

Sequence one was a masterpiece, absolute top notch dnb by the heads at the top of their game. Kasra let us know a little while back there was a sequence two in the works, he’s now come out with a tracklist to drool over:

Side A Enei Feat Riya – No Fear (Spectrasoul Rmx)
Side B Cyantific & Kasra – Minerva
Side C Foreign Concept & Xtrah – Harsh Reality
Side D Kasra & Enei – So Real

Enei Feat Riya – No Fear (Spectrasoul Rmx)

Cyantific & Kasra – Minerva

Kasra & Enei – So Real

Sabre, Stray & Halogenix – Oblique / St. Clair – CRIT061 (Critical Music)

Critical Music are awesome, pretty much the brightest bulb in the dnb scene at the moment. With a slate of fantastic releases last year and a great start to 2012 with some incredible stuff on sister label Modulations, these guys never fail to get me excited. Heres the press release:

“A dreamteam collaboration to start off Critical’s 2012 season from the hugely lauded Sabre, who returns after a long break since his astonishing debut album of 2010, Stray and Halogenix. The perfect antidote to soothe us out of those January blues, simply gorgeous. ‘Oblique’ kicks off with a delicate but tough break that cuts through the mix as gentle pads wash over the soundscape to a breakdown that oozes class and a deft touch. Smooth keys then drop, light strings and the arrival of a deep soul vocal that carries us through into amidst of aural ear-pleasing. Subtle to the end this is a serious piece of music; reach for yourheadphones and drift away. The trio get a little harder on the flipside with ‘St. Clair’, a track that toys on the tech-step tip for a slice of glitchy D&B naughtiness. A sprinkle of vocal cuts and blip FX joined by some polished bass make for a peak-time floor filler perfect to get any club bouncing. Also included is a truly sumptuous downbeat remix of ‘Oblique’ from Manchester’s Synkro, a name fast becoming synonymous with the very best in bass music. Critical coming on strong as always for the new year. Keep ‘em peeled.”

My fave has to be St. Clair, a proper nice techy roller to get your funk on. Another bag on sight release!
